Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United’s pre-season tour which will take place in Thailand and Australia. Manchester United is scheduled to have a friendly match against Liverpool at the Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand, Tuesday (12/7/2022).
The Red Devils (nicknamed Man United) then flew to Melbourne, Australia, to play matches against Melbourne Victory (15 July) and Crystal Palace (19 July). The last agenda for Man United in Australia is against Aston Villa which will be held at Optus Stadium, Perth, Australia, Saturday (23/7/2022).
Man United have confirmed that four players are absent, namely Cristiano Ronaldo, Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Andres Pereira. The names above are not included in the list of 31 players that will be brought by Man United to Thailand and Australia. Man United said Ronaldo was given extra time off to settle his family matters. Previously, Ronaldo also did not attend Man United’s pre-season training on Monday (4/7/2022) due to family reasons.
Ronaldo is rumored to be leaving Manchester United. One of the things that are said to be the reason for Ronaldo’s desire to leave is the ambition to play in the Champions League. If he stays at Man United, Ronaldo will not appear in the competition. Because, Man United is confirmed to compete in the Europa League after finishing sixth in the final standings of the English League last season.
“Manchester United is not in the Champions League next season and Ronaldo is not happy about this,” said Portuguese football expert Pedro Sepulveda, quoted by Sky Sports. “He is completely obsessed with playing in the competition, so he will not live in the fact that he is not playing in the Champions League in the near future,” said Pedro Sepulveda. “He spoke with his agent Jorge Mendes, who saw if there were other options. He said he would talk to a club that targets to win the Champions League to see what can be done in the transfer market this summer,” said Pedro.
