Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has signed for Los Angeles Galaxy, the Major League Soccer club said on Monday, as the striker completed a year-contract until 2023 with a club option for one additional year.
“Gareth is one of the most dynamic and exciting attacking players of his generation,” LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington said.
“Adding a player who brings the talent and experience at the highest levels that Gareth does is an incredible opportunity to continue to improve our Club.
“Gareth is highly motivated to continue to win trophies and we are elated that he has made the choice to join LAFC and help lead us in our ultimate goal of winning championships.” he added.
According to the reports, there is a main reason for why Bale agreed to take a pay cut to join Los Angeles FC. First, he wants to play regularly since that will help Wales prepare for the 2022 World Cup at the end of the year.
“I still have many years to come. I haven’t come here just to be here for six months, 12 months. I’ve come here to try and be here as long as possible.” Bale said.
It is expected that Bale will make his debut for a new club on July 9 with David Beckham’s Inter Miami club.
The MLS tournament will take place until November 2022, ending 2 weeks before the 2022 World Cup.
“It also gives me the best opportunity to keep going to the next Euros, maybe further,” Bale said.
“My plan is to really work hard. It’s a great physical team [at LAFC], medical staff, performance staff at the training ground.
“We’ve got a great plan going forward to get me up to speed and hopefully last as long as possible.” he added.
Los Angeles FC is one of the MLS championship contenders this season. Before signing Bale, the club signed veteran midfielder Giorgio Chiellini on a free transfer.
