Redknapp Believes No Crisis If Ronaldo Stays

Former Birmingham City FC manager, Harry Redknapp, spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo in the future as well as criticised the Portuguese superstar in recent months.

Ronaldo failed to report for the club’s return to pre-season training due to family issues after making a demand to leave United. He was also absent from the Red Devils’ trip to Thailand and Australia.

“I know from experience how damaging it can be to the dressing room when one of your senior men is unhappy.” Redknapp said.

“But if Ronaldo stays, and I don’t see clubs falling over themselves to sign him, don’t expect any problems with what United will get from him.

“He’ll still train better than anyone else and he’ll still be the first in and last out, because that’s just what he has always done.

“And whenever he plays, he will never give anything but his best, it’s what makes him the great player he is.” Redknapp added.

Ronaldo returned to play in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano but left Old Trafford and left shortly after being substituted in the 45th minute.

“Behind the scenes, I’m sure Ten Hag is hoping someone comes up with an offer to suit everyone but I can’t see it.” Redknapp said.

“Ronaldo was probably thinking Bayern Munich, a Spanish side or a big Champions League team would want him. But there’s nowhere for him to go as far as I can see.

“So unless something pops up out of the blue, he’ll be sticking around, and the manager will have him involved.” Redknapp added.

United were humiliated by Brighton in the opening week of their 2022/2023 Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Sunday night. The match was a nightmare for Eric ten Hag. Man United looked unsuccessful, struggling to keep up with Brighton’s attack.
