Nick Kyrgios Beats Sebastian Beez at Canadian Open 2022

Nick Kyrgios on Tuesday kept his recent hot streak alive with a 6-4 6-4 win over Sebastian Baez at the Canadian Open 2022.

Since Kyrgios rarely enjoys competing in many tournaments back-to-back, the most divisive player on the ATP Tour typically does as he pleases.

And just over a month after reaching the Wimbledon final, his first major championship, he is riding at great pace.

His flight from Washington arrived in Montreal late on Monday morning. The Australian has recently won everything in the United States, first in doubles with Jack Sock and then in singles a little later in the same day.

“I got here at 3am on Monday and I haven’t had any practice either. Considering that, I’m really impressed with my performance today. Sebastian (Baez) is having the best season of his career, he’s a top-35 in the world and he’s a combative player so I knew it would be tough,” Kyrgios said.

“That being said, I wanted to give people what they wanted, which was a Kyrgios-Medvedev game in the 2nd round. We’ll see what happens,” he added.

The 27-year-old tennis player continues to show that even the world’s top-10 best watch out when he is in his zone. He has won 12 of his past 13 solo matches, with his only loss coming against the great Novak Djokovic in London.

“I feel like the motivation is at its peak right now. I have several reasons for wanting to be successful. If I can inspire people with the way I play, so much the better. This is one of the elements that pushes me to surpass myself.” Kyrgios said.

“From the Australian Open, I decided that I wanted to have a good season and remind people that I am a very good tennis player, that I can win tournaments. Now I just want to keep the good habits I’ve picked up and play winning tennis.” Kyrgios added.
