Repsol Honda has become the laughingstock of the class over the past few years without a top form Marc Marquez.
Prior to the current season it was thought Honda would find their way back to the top, but instead they fell further back than ever before in the most important road racing class.
According to reports, Marquez could return on September 5, the two days after end of the Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
Honda is all focused on 2023. But to do well here, they depend on the still injured Marquez. The eight-time world champion is the only one of the four current Honda MotoGP riders who will still be active as a regular rider on a Honda RC213V next season.
His brother Alex Marquez will leave Honda after the 2022 season and will work for Gresini Ducati, Pol Espargaro will race for GasGas and Takaaki Nakagami will have to give up his place to Ai Ogura or Somkiat Chantra after this season.
In addition to HRC MotoGP test rider and substitute Stefan Bradl, only Marquez can determine the development direction for 2023.
Bear in mind that the German will undoubtedly fulfill his role as a test driver well, but we don’t have to be an expert to see and conclude that the speed of the former Moto2 world champion has not been of such a nature for some time now to be able to provide the feedback.
The first very important step towards 2023 is the two-day Official MotoGP test days on September 6 and 7 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. During these two days of testing, the regular MotoGP riders will have the opportunity to test solutions and new equipment for the coming season for the first time. In fact, many new parts will be tested during this two-day test.
