Leicester City have reportedly turned down a third offer from fellow Premier League club Chelsea for defender Wesley Fofana.
Chelsea are known to be intensively seeking the signature of Wesley Fofana in the player transfer market this summer.
Quoted by Pedia content from Sky Sports, Wednesday (08/24/2022), Chelsea had previously made a third offer for Fofana of £70 million, after two of their offers were rejected by Leicester.
Chelsea have actually made two offers for the Frenchman before.
But unfortunately, Leicester always refused and insisted that Fofana was not for sale.
Leicester are reportedly reluctant to let Fofana go. Moreover, the 21-year-old has just signed a contract extension with a duration of two years which makes him have a deal until the end of June 2027.
The Blues are now trying to bring in a new defender after the transfer market this summer had to lose Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Both chose to leave Stamford Bridge when their contracts expired at the end of last June.
So far, Thomas Tuchel’s squad has only brought in one defender, namely Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
Koulibaly was redeemed for a fee of 38 million euros, along with an addition to a four-year contract.
Fofana was brought in by Leicester from French League club Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee of 35 million euros.
Last season, Fofana appeared in 11 matches with one goal from 978 minutes played.
Fofana is mostly struggling with a calf fracture that he got in August 2021.
After undergoing surgery and recovery, the Marseille-born player will only be able to return to play in March 2021.
