Promotor Frank Warren told Anthony Joshua has been offered a fight against Tyson Fury, but the sides would need to work out an amendable fight date.
“We have put a formal offer through to Matchroom [Joshua’s promoter] and got a reply late last night and everyone seems on the same page, we just have to work on the date,” Warren said.
“Tyson is insisting that he fights early in November because he feels he will beat Joshua and he then wants to fight Usyk in the unification fight.”
Joshua is also planning to fight before the year is over after suffering his second straight loss to Oleksandr Usyk in August.
“Now Tyson is my focus. Offers will be made, substantial offers. I’ve fought many champions, so it’s obvious that I’ve traded with them.” Joshua said.
“It’s no different with Tyson. He should take this fight with both hands, because the money will be split,” Joshua added.
Fury meanwhile is on track to face Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed heavyweight match on December 17th.
But unified heavyweight champion Usyk has no plans to fight again this year after finally returning to his war-torn Ukrainian.
The Gypsy King has confirmed that he’s called up longtime rival Joshua to a winter fight in Britain.
“Tyson Fury here. Aka the Gypsy King, the WBC world heavyweight champion, as you can see.” Fury said.
“I think you’ve all heard that I’m going to fight soon, in the next few months. And I think before announcing an opponent, I need to do it just in case.
“Anthony Joshua, I know you just lost a fight to Usyk and you are currently without a belt, but I would like to give you an opportunity to fight for the WBC world heavyweight champion.” Fury added.
