Audi names Sauber as works partner for 2026 F1 entry

Audi joining Suaber in F1

Audi is finally entering Formula 1 in 2026. It finally announced its “strategic partner” Sauber Motorsports for its entry into the sport.

Earlier, Audi announced its entry at Belgian Grand Prix in August. However, it remained unclear whom the team will partner with. Past few months, the Sauber was an evident partner for the Audi.

Sauber also confirmed the deal with Audi, which will buy a stake in the company. However, it failed to share the details of the purchase. Neither it commented on the size of the shareholding that Audi will hold onto.

Sauber noted: “This partnership will bring the team to new heights. Guaranteeing at the same time the long-term future of the company – an entity that boasts a committed workforce, one of Europe’s leading wind tunnels and world-class motorsport manufacturing facilities.”

The team will continue to compete under Alfa Romeo flag in 2023, as announced earlier. However, with new deal the team is expected to revert back to its Sauber identity for 2024 & 2025. It will continue to utilize Ferrari power units until 2026.
