Young Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher still remembers his team’s success when they won the 2021-2022 English League Cup. The 23-year-old goalkeeper also wants to repeat his success with Liverpool in the English League Cup this season.
For your information, Caoimhin Kelleher played four times with the Reds – Liverpool’s nickname – when they won the 2021-2022 English League Cup. The climax occurred in the final which took place at Wembley against Chelsea.
The Irish goalkeeper made a series of important saves during the final against Chelsea. He then successfully converted the ball from the spot into a goal, which was the decisive victory for Jurgen Klopp’s team on penalties which ended 11-10 for Liverpool.
Now, he is again trusted by Liverpool’s assistant coach, Pepijn Lijnders, to be a starter to meet Derby County in the last 32 of the 2022-2023 English League Cup. The match is scheduled to take place at Anfield on Thursday 10 November 2022.
Caoimhin Kelleher could not wait to appear again in the tournament. He has ambitions to bring the Red Merseyside squad to the English League Cup again this season.
“After winning last season, we are looking forward to trying to win it again this season. I also played a lot in the Premier League Cup last season, so I can’t wait to start again,” said Caoimhin Kelleher.
“We won it last year so we want to carry on and do the same thing again. For the opposing team may be against us is a big motivation for them to beat the reigning champions.”
“Whoever we play against will be fine, but we also want to do the same again and win it. It was a great feeling last year to get the win and hopefully we can do it again,” Caoimhin Kelleher.
