Lewis Hamilton crashes down at Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton smashed right on time in second practice as team-mate Nico Rosberg underlined Mercedes’ pace at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Hamilton lost control at Turn 11 and slid into the obstructions on his fourth lap. He limped back to the pits yet couldn’t run once more, winding up fifth.

Rosberg was 0.595secs speedier than Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo in second.

Ferrari were battling, with Sebastian Vettel 0.327secs back, 0.322secs in front of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Raikkonen was under 0.3secs snappier than the McLarens of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button – isolated by just 0.059secs in seventh and eighth spots.

What’s more, Ferrari needed race pace, as well, with Raikkonen doing a long keep running on overwhelming fuel in the meantime as Rosberg and lapping all things considered around a second slower.

Mercedes were pretty much as predominant on the race runs, Rosberg well over a large portion of a second by and large faster than the following speediest man, Verstappen.

Hamilton’s mix-up – he lost the back on passage to a standout amongst the most requesting corners on a troublesome track – will have taken a toll him track time and experience of the car on full tanks, yet that is unrealistic to be a lot of an obstacle on a track he knows well and is one of his top picks.

He was 0.237secs snappier than Rosberg in the principal session and heads into the weekend a point hapless of his team-mate in the title.

Lewis Hamilton said, “They have those new white kerbs. I just put my rear wheel just over the white line and touched it and they are very slippery. I don’t know why they have put them there – it was perfectly fine before.

“Nico had really good runs, so I can study that. Pace was feeling quite good. It is just about getting in the swing of things, if you miss a session that’s what you miss.”

Nico Rosberg said, “An impressive day for us, performance-wise. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll be in quite such a strong position tomorrow – but for now it’s very positive.

“I’m feeling great out there and the car is very quick, so a good start to the weekend overall. Obviously, it’s a great feeling to start the day like that with the contract being sorted. That was always going to be a positive boost.”
