eSports: Ferrari Vision Hybrid Racing Car Coming to Gran Turismo 7 in December

PlayStation’s car simulator continues to be a stage where manufacturers share concept cars, in this case Ferrari’s vision for a hybrid racing model.

The Gran Turismo Vision project, from the Sony Polyphony Digital studio, is a program in which major car manufacturers are invited to create exclusive concept models for the game on PlayStation consoles.

And the motorsport ritual, started in 2013, continues with the addition of the Ferrari Vision, expected to reach GT 7 on December 23rd. An exclusive gift for fans of the saga, as this model does not exist in real life.

Like pasr models from Jaguar or Mercedes-Benz, the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo is a true “bomb” on the asphalt. This one has an extreme version of the V6 engine from the Ferrari 499P, the model that intends to debut next year in the Le Mans endurance race.

The model has only one seat and is a hybrid with 1,030 horsepower in the main engine, powered by three electric motors with additional power of 240 kW, one at the rear and one at each front wheel.

The model was announced this weekend at the Gran Turismo World Series 2022 Nations Cup Grand Final eSports event in Monaco, where the best virtual GT drivers were gathered to compete in the finals.

It draws inspiration from Ferrari’s single-seater prototype models of the 1960s-70s, drawing on the DNA of the Ferrari 330 P3 and the 512 S. A tribute to the past, but a vision for the brand’s future.

The regional finals brought together the 30 fastest Gran Turismo drivers, from 14 countries, marking the face-to-face return after the three-year break due to the pandemic.

The Brazilian Igor Fraga took over the final ahead of the competition with seven points on the table, followed by the Frenchman Kylian Drumont with six.

But who won the final was the Spaniard Coque Lopez, although surrounded by controversy, after a final turn that involved two other regional champions, Angel Inostroza and Takuma Miyazono changing places.
