Confide Kylian Mbappe, Who Still Can’t Forget the Bitterness of Failure to Win the 2022 World Cup

Kylian Mbappe, who still cannot forget the bitterness of failing to win the 2022 World Cup. The French national team striker admits that he still cannot move on from the defeat presented by Argentina.

Les Bleus – the nickname of the French National Team – had to swallow the bitter pill in the 2022 World Cup final, because they lost on penalties to Argentina. However, Kylian Mbappe saved them from defeat by scoring a hat-trick, ending the game 3-3 after 120 minutes.

After the 2022 World Cup, Mbappe refused to take a vacation. He immediately returned to training and even played again when Les Parisien – nicknamed PSG – played against Strasbourg in the 2022-2023 French League continuation at the Parc des Princes, Thursday (29/12/2022).

Before Mbappe was decisive for PSG’s victory, Cristophe Galtier’s team took the lead through a goal from Marquinhos in the 14th minute. However, Strasbourg were able to equalise through an own goal from Marquinhos in the 51st minute.

Luckily, Mbappe managed to score the decisive goal in the 90+6th minute via a penalty kick. After the match, Mbappe said he would never forget the disappointment of losing the World Cup final to Qatar.

“I think I will never forget it (the moment of France’s defeat to Argentina),” said Mbappe, speaking just 10 days after he scored a hat-trick in the final against Argentina which the South Americans won on penalties. (29/12/2022).

Even so, Mbappe is showing signs of revival after the disappointment in Qatar. This was proven by converting a penalty in the 96th minute to give PSG a 2-1 win over Strasbourg. He is also determined to avenge France’s disappointment by performing well with PSG.

“As I said to my team-mates, there is no reason why the club should pay for the failure of the national team, those are two very different situations,” concluded Mbappe.

As far as information is concerned, Mbappe won the golden boot award, aka the top scorer for the 2022 World Cup, even though he failed to lead France to win the most prestigious gold trophy. The PSG star has collected 8 goals ahead of his PSG teammate, Lionel Messi, who only scored 7 goals.
