Didier Deschamps opened his mouth after Hugo Lloris announced his retirement from the French national team. The coach of Les Bleus – nicknamed the French national team – respects the 36-year-old goalkeeper’s decision.
Lloris has always been a mainstay under the crossbar for the French national team. It is this Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper who brought the French National Team to win the 2018 World Cup and is also the runner-up in the latest edition in 2022.
After the announcement made by Lloris, Deschamps said goodbye to his team. The 54-year-old coach also respected the decision chosen by Lloris.
“The great French fighter has decided to retire and I want to say goodbye,” said Didier Deschamps quoted from Tuttomercatoweb, Tuesday (10/1/2023).
“I think we have to respect his decision even though he still has his place in our team, as he showed in the last World Cup,” he added.
Deschamps also believes that Lloris is a player who always puts the interests of the team first in every match. Therefore, Deschamps also hopes that Lloris will be happy with his future.
“Hugo has very high ideas about France, he is always focused on the team, he always puts the team in front, sometimes even against him. I wish him happiness,” he concluded. Lloris is indeed a mainstay in the senior team of the French national team.
He is the captain and retired from the French national team with a record of 145 caps since debuting in the senior team in 2008.
