Ancelotti revealed the reason Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.
“[To say] ‘a sporting insult’ would be a lack of respect,” Ancelotti told a news conference.
“We lost against Barcelona, just like we beat them in the league [3-1 on October 16]. They played better and deserved to win, that’s all.”
“The mistakes we made defined the game. We didn’t play the ball well, they caught us twice on the counter and the game changed. It wasn’t a lack of attitude, it was an individual mistake.”
Ancelotti’s first season back in Madrid was able to win LaLiga and the Champions League.
However, this season will be more challenging for Don Carlo, considering that Real Madrid is currently in second place in the standings, 3 points behind Barcelona.
“This is not a good moment for the team. We have to survive,” said Ancelotti.
“This team has the quality to come back and be competitive in all competitions. We are hurt because Madrid usually win finals.”
“Madrid will come back, there is no doubt about that,” he concluded.
