Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 27th minute. However, Die Roten Bullen — nicknamed RB Leipzig — scored an equalizer through Josko Gvardiol in the 70th minute.
The game started sluggishly but Manchester City mostly had the ball for the first 10 minutes. Nevertheless, the English giants could not create a dangerous opportunity.
The first chance came in the 14th minute with Riyad Mahrez sending a cross through a corner kick. Ruben Dias greeted him but Leipzig goalkeeper, Janis Blaswich, managed to save the ball.

Manchester City finally opened the scoring in the 27th minute after maximizing Xaver Schlager’s blunder who made a wrong pass. Jack Grealish took the ball and played it to Ilkay Gundogan. Riyad Mahrez received the ball from Gundogan and finished mercilessly while the keeper was unable to do much to stop it.
Riyad Mahrez’s corner cross found Rodri in the 40th minute. However, the midfielder’s header from Spain flew far from the goal.
Towards the halftime break, Ederson finally saved his goal after Timo Werner fired a shot. However, that didn’t bother him and Manchester City went 1-0 up at the interval.
After the halftime break, RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose made a substitution in defense. Benjamin Henrichs took Luke Klostermann’s place.
In the 55th minute, the substitute Henrichs got a golden opportunity after receiving the ball from Dominik Szoboszlai. However, his shot was still sideways from the goal.
Erling Haaland received a pass from Jack Grealish in the 68th minute in a counterattack. However, the shot from the Norwegian bomber was still wide of the goal.
Two minutes later, RB Leipzig got a corner. Timo Werner made a short pass to Marcel Halstenberg who then sent the bait into the mouth of the goal. Josko Gvardiol tackled the ball with his head and scored the equalizer. Score changed to 1-1.
In the 74th minute, Grealish created another chance near the penalty box. Ilkay Gundogan shot the ball into his pass. But Blaswich successfully dispel it.
Towards the end of the game, Manchester City won a corner kick. Riyad Mahrez executed it and provided a pass into the penalty box, but the opportunity failed to be completed. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
