FA Cup Fifth Round Results, Manchester City Qualifies for the Quarter Finals

The Citizen Manchester City managed to progress, qualify for the FA Cup Quarter-Finals after last Wednesday (01/03) beating non-Premier League team Bristol City with a landslide score of 3-0.

In that match Man City excelled quickly. Man City striker Phil Foden managed to break into Bristol City’s goal after receiving an assist from Riyad Mahrez when the game entered the 7th minute.

In the 74th minute Phil Foden scored again. Foden scored against Bristol City for the second time after receiving an assist from the Argentine star who shone at the 2022 World Cup, Julian Alvarez.

Nine minutes before the end of the second half, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne completed Man City’s 3-0 win. De Bruyne scored against Bristol City after receiving an assist from striker Jack Grealish.

At almost the same time, three other FA Cup Fifth Round matches were held elsewhere. The three matches in question are between Brighton and Hove Albion and the non-Premier League team, Stoke City.

Then the match between fellow Premier League teams Fulham versus Leeds United. The last match was between a Premier League team, Leicester City, and a non-Premier League team, Blackburn Rovers.

Brighton and Hove Albion, who visited a non-Premier League team, Stoke City, narrowly won 1-0. Fulham, who hosted Leeds United, managed to win 2-0. Meanwhile, the host Leicester City had to surrender to the guest Blackburn Rovers. Leicester lost by a score of 1-2.

Thus the only team from the Premier League that failed to qualify for the quarter-finals was Leicester City. The Foxes were unable to overcome the non-Premier League team, Blackburn Rovers.

The next four FA Cup Fifth Round matches will be played on Thursday morning WIB (02/03). The four matches are Southampton versus Grimbsy Town, Burnley versus Fleetwood, Manchester United versus West Ham United, and Sheffield United versus Tottenham Hotspur.

Judging from the four matches above, one team from the Premier League will certainly qualify for the next round, the quarter-finals. The team in question is Manchester United or West Ham United. Because the two teams will face each other.

Two other Premier League teams, namely Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur have the potential to qualify for the quarter-finals. Of course, the condition is that they must be able to overcome their respective opponents, teams from non-Premier League.

Southampton should be able to get rid of Grimsby Town. Meanwhile, Tottenham must be able to eliminate Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, one ticket to the quarter-finals will certainly belong to a non-Premier League team. One ticket in question might belong to Burnley, but it could also go to Fleetwood. Because the two teams will face each other.
