Feeling unacceptable, Karim Benzema uploaded all of his achievements last year after Lionel Messi received the 2022 FIFA best player award. Real Madrid’s mainstay striker was included in the 2022 FIFA best player nomination along with two Paris Saint Germain (PSG) players, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
However, Benzema was not present at the award ceremony for The Best FIFA Football Awards which was held in Paris, France, on Tuesday 28 February 2023. Benzema seems to be sure that he will not win the award.
Sure enough, of the three names, Benzema is in third place with 34 points. Benzema lost to Kylian Mbappe in second place with 44 points and Messi who was named the best FIFA player with 52 points.
Not long after the announcement of the result, Benzema made a splash in the football public by uploading several posts on his Instagram story @karimbenzema.
In his Instagram story, Benzema uploaded all his achievements throughout 2022. Not only that, this French striker also uploaded a video of someone saying “liar, yes, you’re a liar” in French.
Many believe that the intention of Benzema uploading a number of posts on his Instagram story is to show that he is more worthy of the 2022 FIFA Best Player award than Messi.
In the tweet of the Twitter account @sportbible netizens flocked to comment on Benzema’s actions. “Karim Benzema’s final two instagram stories after he missed out on the FIFA best Award” wrote the sportbible in uploading Karim Benzema’s Instagram story screenshot “Bro, World cup surpassed all these!” write account @Kombo***47903.
There are also those who think that Benzema does not respect the coaches and also the team captains who give votes. “Such disrespect to coaches and captains who voted” wrote the ManUnited account.
