The results of Manchester United vs Fulham in the 2022-2023 FA Cup will be discussed here. The match played at Old Trafford, Sunday (19/3/2023) ended with a score of 3-1 for the victory of The Red Devils — nicknamed Manchester United.
Fulham took the lead in the 50th minute through Aleksandar Mitrovic. However, Manchester United responded through Bruno Fernandes (75′ and 90+6′) and Marcel Sabitzer (77′) after Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic were sent off in the 72nd minute.
Despite not being favored and playing as a guest team, Fulham gave the first threat in the second minute. However, David De Gea was able to thwart Issa Diop’s header which met Andreas Pereira’s pass.
In the 13th minute, Manchester United counterattacked with Marcus Rashford finding Wout Weghorst. Bruno Fernandes managed to open the way for Weghorst but the Dutch striker’s shot failed to bear fruit.
Ten minutes later, Manchester United again created opportunities for Weghorst. However, the bait that came from the left wing failed to reach the striker on loan from Burnley
Marcel Sabitzer attempted a shot from outside the penalty box. However, his shot was easily parried by Bernd Leno. Score 0-0 closed the first half.
Fulham again gave a threat after the halftime break. However, Robinson’s shot was thwarted by De Gea.
Fulham finally scored through Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serbian striker finished off a corner after receiving the ball from Diop.
In the 70th minute, Antony created a chance for Jadon Sancho. After passing the goalkeeper, Sancho faced an empty net. However, his shot was saved by Willian who then sparked debate over the penalty for handball.
After looking through the VAR, the referee finally awarded a penalty. Willian was sent off for that but Aleksandar Mitrovic was also sent off for excessive protest. Fulham manager Marco Silva was given a red card too.
In the penalty box, Bruno Fernandes faced the ball and successfully carried out his task. Score to 1-1.
Superior number of players, the match is easier to control Manchester United. Marcel Sabitzer scored a turnaround goal in the 77th minute after receiving Luke Shaw’s pass.
Towards the end of the match, Bruno Fernandes ensured that Manchester United won 3-1. The Portuguese midfielder finished the ball from Fred by shooting into the top corner of the goal.
