Mason Mount is said to be joining Liverpool rather than Manchester United in the summer of 2023 if he leaves Chelsea. This was revealed by talkSPORT journalist, Alex Crook. According to him, Liverpool is the favourite team to get Mount’s services.
Yes, Mason Mount is rumoured to be leaving Stamford Bridge after the English-blooded player entered the final 16 months of his current contract. Moreover, the 24-year-old player has yet to sign a contract extension with The Blues -Chelsea’s nickname.
Reportedly, the English midfielder is demanding a huge financial package to sign a contract extension with Chelsea. However, Graham Potter’s team did not accept it.
As a result, both parties are struggling to find a solution regarding a new agreement. So, it is very likely that Mason Mount can leave the Blues at the end of the 2022-2023 season.
Seeing this situation, Liverpool and Manchester United also want to take advantage of bringing in Mason Mount in a discounted price agreement at the end of the 2022-2023 season. For Liverpool, they happen to be looking for a midfielder to strengthen the midfield, reportedly they have placed Jude Bellingham as their main target.
However, David Ornstein recently reported that the Reds – nicknamed Liverpool – are unlikely to be able to secure the Borussia Dortmund player’s signature. Because, the price of Jude Bellingham is very expensive.
So, if Jurgen Klopp’s side fail to secure a deal for the 19-year-old this summer, they will be forced to look for alternative targets. In this case, Mason Mount could be the newest option.
On the other hand, Manchester United also want to strengthen their squad in the summer of 2023, specifically strengthening the midfield which is Erik Ten Hag’s main projection. They have been linked with several midfield options such as Frenkie de Jong.
Unfortunately, the Dutch player has repeatedly stated that he does not want to leave Barcelona. So, if the Red Devils – the nickname Manchester United – fail to buy the Dutch player, then Mason Mount will be the right choice.
However, according to Alex Crook, Liverpool are ahead of the queue to beat Manchester United in the race for Mason Mount’s signature if the player finally leaves Stamford Bridge next summer. Crook claims that the Reds are the most likely destination for Mason Mount if he does not sign a contract extension with Chelsea.
“I think Liverpool. It was clear Jude Bellingham had been their main target for a while. It wouldn’t surprise me if Jude Bellingham did sign a new contract at Borussia Dortmund with a release clause. Contract talks (for Mount) have stalled for some time. And I think Liverpool is the most likely destination for him,” concluded Alex Crook, quoting from Football Talk.
