Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green has believed if the Los Angeles Lakers can establish into the NBA playoffs, they will create a serious threat.
The Lakers entered the play-in classification zone, but the situation remains “tight” in the competitive West.
Angelinos are only ninth in the conference after winning 37 of 75 games. Furthermore, it is only one game ahead of 11th place in the conference (Dallas Mavericks).
“People can say what they want, talking heads can talk, they are a serious threat in the West right now,” Green said.
“Talk about the record all you want; they’ve just got to get in. They get in, they’re a serious threat in the West.” Green added.
Green’s confidence in his opponent wasn’t all that high before February or even in last seasons. But after the trade deadline moves, the forward changed his mind.
The new sign players such as Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell transformed the Californians into a dangerous team once more.
“I think this cast is really good, first of all. The last two years, everyone wanted to talk about the Lakers and it wasn’t very excited.” Green said.
“They have LeBron James , but, at the end of the day, they didn’t see a title shot. However, that story has changed. They closed exchanges, brought several players and, finally, they have a real team.” he added.
Green’s optimism has been dimmed by the Lakers’ comeback in the race for a playoff spot. The team has won 11 of its last 17 games, propelling it from 13th to 10th place in the Western Conference. But, does not include LeBron most of the time.
The star admitted that seeing the team’s reaction spurred his faster-than-expected rehabilitation from a foot injury.
