Montreal Alouttes about to Renew Marc-Antoine Dequoy until 2025

The Montreal Alouettes on Friday announced has extended the contract of Montreal defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy until the 2025 CFL season.

Dequoy has 38 defensive tackles, in addition to intercepting four passes, including one that ended in a major, in 17 starts as a safe with the team in 2022.

In his 17 starts as a safe with the squad in 2022, Dequoy has made 38 defensive tackles in addition to intercepting four passes, one of which ended in a major. He also had four special teams tackles.

The Alouettes’ second-round pick in the 2020 auction played eight games during his rookie season in the nest in 2021. Dequoy had one defensive tackle and eight on special teams.

“Marc-Antoine is one of the fastest players on our league and he’s brimming with talent,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said

“We are very happy with this contract extension, he will be with us for severbal years, and he will continue to assert himself both on and off the pitch.” Maciocia added.

Dequoy spent four seasons with the University of Montreal Carabins, where he helped the team reach the 2019 Vanier Cup final. He was named to the all-Canadian and RSEQ teams in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

“I am very excited to extend my adventure with the Alouettes. I have the opportunity to play at home in front of my family and friends, and to count on the support of extraordinary fans,” Dequoy said.

“I can’t wait to start the season. Things are looking good with the arrival of a new owner and chairman, coach Maas and the addition of many talented players.” he added.

Wesley Sutton was the starting safety during the early stages of training camp lasat month. However, by the second week, Dequoy was joined the starting lineup, while Sutton moved to cornerback.

“As young as our secondary is, at that point, it doesn’t matter who you’re practising with, I just need you to lead the team,” defensive coordinator Barron Miles said.

“With a younger group, they’re more likely to follow him. I told him that scenario. It doesn’t matter which group you’re with. If you’re a leader, they’re going to follow you.” he added.
