Caroline Garcia admits she feels confused about her current form after she cried during a press conference following her 2023 exit from the Italian Open in Rome.

The tennis player who won the biggest title of her career at the WTA Finals at the end of last season, lost in straight sets when she faced qualifier from Colombia, Camila Osorio in the third round of the Italian Open. With this defeat, for the fourth time in a row he failed to claim a win in a row. Since qualifying for the final in Monterrey in the first week of March, he has only bagged five wins.

Speaking to reporters in Rome about his recent form, the 29-year-old stated that he has struggled to balance expectations with what is happening on the court.

“A little bit of everything, to be honest. Most of the time my intentions weren’t bad, but the execution was pretty bad. As soon as it accumulated, I couldn’t take it anymore, it started to disturb my peace, it made me feel even more frustrated,” said Caroline Garcia.

“This kind of thing has been going on for some time. Sometimes it’s tough. I tried a few things, but they didn’t work very well.”

The frustration of the world number 4 tennis player emerged after she went through such a brilliant 2022 season, which included winning four titles and advancing to the semifinals of the Grand Slam singles for the first time in her career at the US Open. He also picked up eight wins over tennis players ranked in the top 10.

However, the French national’s struggles have recently raised questions about her own game and she continues to look for solutions to regain momentum in the tournament.

“I put in a lot of effort, I feel I did some things well, and I want to go through with it,” said Garcia.

“When I got on the pitch, all the things I was good at, I couldn’t do any more. After a while, I wanted to know why, at least get over it and change it. Instead of enjoying the moment on the pitch, it became a nightmare.”

Garcia’s candid confession came just weeks before he was to compete in the Grand Slam which would be held at his home, the French Open. Having reached the quarterfinals of the French Open in singles in the 2017 season, he has lost in the second round of the Grand Slam in the last two seasons.
