Messi Explains Reasons for Choosing Inter Miami Over Barcelona

Messi Explains Reasons for Choosing Inter Miami Over Barcelona. Lionel Messi officially chose Major League Soccer (MLS) or the American Football League by joining Inter Miami. Miami has also announced Messi on their social media account on Thursday. This was quite surprising because rather than going to Miami, it was initially reported that Messi was closer to going to Arab or returning to Barcelona.

In this regard, the captain of the Argentine national team even revealed that his initial intention was to return to the club that made his name, Barcelona. But that failed to happen because of a bad past.

“I really want and am very happy to be back, but on the other hand, after experiencing what I went through and the way I left, I don’t want to be in the same situation again: waiting to see what will happen and leaving the future I am in someone else’s hands,” Leo Messi said via Mundo Deportivo.

Messi also emphasized that his reason for choosing to go to Miami rather than returning to Barcelona was because he did not want to be subjected to unfounded accusations against him again.

“I heard that they have to sell players or reduce players’ wages, and actually I don’t want to go through that or be responsible for anything related to that. I’ve done it, been accused of many things that were not true in my career at Barcelona, and I’m already a bit tired; I don’t want to go through all that.”

Finally, Messi stated that personal reasons were also an important consideration in making a decision. He also expressed his desire to get out of the spotlight.

“I was at a point where I wanted to step out of the spotlight a little bit, think more about my family. I had two years where I was very unhappy. On a personal level I didn’t enjoy it,” he said.

Messi also spoke about his struggles after winning the World Cup, something spectacular for him and his career. La Pulga also emphasized his desire to be happier by enjoying more time with his family.

“I had a spectacular month for me winning the World Cup, but other than that it was a difficult period for me. I want to rediscover joy, to enjoy my family, my children, everyday… And that’s why the decision for Barcelona it didn’t happen.”

On the other hand, Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, in an official Barcelona club statement, respected Messi’s decision to want to compete in the league with fewer demands and away from the spotlight after the difficult situation he had experienced in the last two years.

After leaving Barcelona and strengthening Paris Saint-Germain, Messi did not seem happy. This can also be seen from his declining performance after the World Cup. He also received an unfavorable reception at the end of his match with the team from Paris. Apart from that, the bad parting while at Barcelona was also a strong reason for preferring to Miami rather than returning to Catalonia.
