Chelsea have appointed Mauricio Pochettino as manager of the team after a poor season. If Romelu Lukaku returns to the Stamford Bridge, this is not the case for a dozen other players, such as Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to reports, Pochettino has planned to part with a dozen players to renew a squad that has failed this season.

As goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy should bear the brunt of his poor form. As for Kepa Arrizabalaga, his wage expectations are a brake on his exit.

In central defense Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Thiago Silva look untouchable given their recent transfer and their status. Fofana and Badiashile arrived less than a year ago and Silva was voted the club’s best player this season.

Koulibaly, who disappointed him, and Trevoh Chalobah are pushed out, even more with the return of loan from Levi Colwill, after his impressive season at Brighton. The Blues are very keen on keeping him and have turned down €35m from Brighton.

The full-back position is where there will be the least movement. Ben Chilwell and Reece James give satisfaction. Cucurella was disappointing but he was bought for €60 million last summer, Chelsea do not intend to part with him immediately.

Malo Gusto will arrive to be the understudy of Reece James on the right which should lead to the exit of Cesar Azpilicueta.

Denis Zakaria has finished his loan and will return to Juventus. Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both have contracts that end in 2024. Both players have already started discussions with other clubs. The Croatian is heading to Manchester City and the English to AC Milan.

Mason Mount should take charge of Manchester United but Chelsea will not sell off his player. Connor Gallagher did not convince the leaders and they would like to part with him. Finally Tiemoue Bakayoko will return from his loan to AC Milan but should leave again on loan.

In attack line up things are clear, Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke will be kept. Lukaku will return from loan and enters Pochettino’s plans.

Koq Felix will return to Atletico Madrid. Aubameyang will be sold after a nightmarish season, with Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech set to follow.

The arrival of Christopher Nkunku sealed their future. Finally last player who should leave: the winger Callum Hudson-Odoi whose loan to Bayer Leverkusen did not mark the spirits.
