Manchester United have officially signed Mason Mount from Chelsea. The announcement of Mount’s arrival was made officially on Man United’s social media account on Wednesday (5/7/2023).
Man United has signed Mason Mount until June 2028. In his contract, there is an option for another year’s extension for the English midfielder.
“Mason Mount has joined Manchester United on a contract that runs until June 2028, with the option of a further year,” Manchester United wrote on their official website.
“The 24-year-old midfielder has made 279 appearances at club level, scoring 58 goals and providing 53 assists. The winner of the Champions League is Chelsea’s Player of the Year for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons,” he continued.
“He has 36 caps for England and played a key role in his country’s run to the European Championship final in 2021,” explained Man United.
To get Mason Mount’s services in the 2023 summer transfer market, Man United reportedly had to spend big money. They redeemed Mount from Chelsea with a dowry of 55 million pounds, plus adds on worth 5 million pounds.
The arrival of Mason Mount was welcomed by Manchester United Director of Football, John Murtough. He is optimistic that Mount’s presence can bring Man United to glory next season. “Mason is a very intelligent footballer and has fantastic technical qualities who will add to our squad significantly,” said John Murtough.
“We have admired his talent for a long time so we are delighted he has chosen to take the next step in his career here at Old Trafford.”
“His style of play and attributes suit this squad perfectly and we all believe that he will thrive working with Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff,” concluded John Murtough.
