Djokovic stepped into the 2023 Wimbledon final with an impressive record of not having lost since 2013 when he competed on Center Court, the arena for his duel with Alcaraz. The last person to beat The Djoker on the Wimbledon Center Court was Andy Murray in the 2013 final, aka 10 years ago! However, this time Djokovic’s triumph on Center Court was toppled by Carlos Alcaraz

Competing for four hours and 42 minutes, Alcaraz was finally able to defeat Djokovic in a fierce battle of five sets that finished with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4. “Beating Novak at his best, at this stage, making history, to be the guy to beat him after 10 years unbeaten on that court, was incredible for me,” Alcaraz said after the match.

For Carlos Alcaraz, Wimbledon 2023 will be his second grand slam title after the US Open he won last year. Not only that, Alcaraz’ success in winning Wimbledon 2023 also made him set various records.

Alcaraz is now the sixth player after Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Daniil Medvedev to beat Novak Djokovic in the grand slam final. Alcaraz is also the first tennis player outside of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray to win the Wimbledon men’s singles in the last 20 years. Carlos Alcaraz who entered professional tennis in 2018 is now listed as the third player after Boris Becker and Bjorn Borg to win Wimbledon before he was 21 years old.
