Paris Saint-Germain will enter a race with Bayern Munich to sign Tottenham forward Harry Kane this summer, sources have told ESPN.
Earlier this month, ESPN reported that Kane is eager to join the Bundesliga champions and is not looking to extend his contract with Spurs.
However, PSG are also interested in signing the England captain, and sources have told ESPN that the club have been in talks with Kane’s brother and agent Charlie for several weeks.
The Ligue 1 champions are interested in signing another striker and are also eyeing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, the source added.
According to multiple sources, PSG believe Kane’s target is Bayern, but if no agreement is reached, the French club will be prepared to offer Spurs more money and try to convince the striker to join.
PSG are prepared to spend €100 million on a striker and that amount could increase if Kylian Mbappé leaves to join Real Madrid for a hefty transfer fee amid a contract dispute with the club.
The French club are going through a rebuilding phase after Lionel Messi left to join Inter Miami this summer.
Sporting director Luis Campos has strengthened in other positions with the signings of Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lucas Hernandez, Cher Ndour, Lee Kang-in as well as the arrival of new coach Luis Enrique.
Bayern also saw two bids rejected for Kane but are expected to make a third bid worth around 90 million euros, far short of Spurs’ value.
Meanwhile, new Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said he had spoken to Kane, who turns 30 on July 28, ahead of their pre-season opener against West Ham United in Australia.
“I had a good chat with Harry,” Postecoglou told reporters at his press conference on Monday, as quoted by ESPN.
“Nothing is as shocking as people are looking for.”
“Just a good chat, introducing myself, and we talked mainly about the club, where he is and where he thinks he can improve.”
“It’s not a specific vision for one person, it’s about the group and we are aligned with that – we want to see a successful team this year.”
