The Phoenix Suns is reportedly do not intend to trade Deandre Ayton for the next NBA season. Moreover, the franchise’s executives want the pivot to play alongside the trio of stars Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
The Suns head coach Frank Vogel, has insisted that he would like to count on Ayton for the next season of the NBA.
“I think he could be one of the best centers in the NBA. After all, he showed it a few years ago when we faced him in the playoffs,” Vogel said.
“There are still areas where he can grow offensively. But I’m really committed to connecting with him and helping him restore that All-Star player level.” Vogel added.
On the other hand, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey has pointed out the 24-year-old player as a target of the Philadelphis 76ers.
“Phoenix wants the 76ers to facilitate a three-team deal. This, therefore, would bring Tobias Harris to the Suns.” Pompey reported.
“In addition, another team would be Ayton and the Sixers would gain other assets.” he added.
Pompey has also confirmed that Phoenix’s pursuit of Harris is over. The question, after all, is financial.
It was believed that the Suns would use Ayton as a bargaining chip in the NBA market. The franchise goes down a shorter, but star-studded, casting path.
Ayton ended the series against the Denver Nuggets averaging 10.8 points and 8.2 rebounds in the 2022/23 season.
However, the idea is that Ayton is not untouchable if a good deal can be done. But with Vogel in charge, the atmosphere in the locker rooms is about to change.
Moreover, his relationship with Monty Williams was not good, according to journalist John Gambadoro.
“Like Jae Crowder, Monty Williams didn’t want Ayton either. He wanted to be traded for Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.” Gambadoro said.
“The coach didn’t like to train him. On the other hand, Vogel loves Ayton. That’s because he reminds him of Roy Hibbert.” he added.
