The name Mason Greenwood does not appear in the list of Manchester United squad numbers for the 2023-2024 season. Speculation has sprung up regarding the continuation of the career of the wonderkid from England.
Information regarding the list of temporary squad numbers can be seen on the official Man United website. The club explained that provisional squad numbers for the 2023-2024 season have been registered with the Premier League. However, changes may occur at the end of the transfer market on September 1.
Several players will start the season with the same number, such as Alejandro Garnacho who uses the number 49 shirt. Meanwhile, the club’s new recruit, Rasmus Hojlund has not been given a jersey number until now.
Andre Onana will wear jersey number 24. He also used this number when he strengthened Inter Milan and Ajax. As for Mason Mount, he will use the jersey number 7 in the 2023-2024 season.
Reporting from The Sun, Friday (11/8/2023), there is no name Mason Greenwood in the list of Man United’s provisional squad numbers for the 2023-2024 season. Man United is expected to make a decision regarding the future of the young player in the near future.
Greenwood could have his contract terminated, put back into the first team, loaned out or sold. The English winger still has a contract with Man United until June 2025. Greenwood was accused of rape and assault on his ex-girlfriend in February 2022. Until now, the 21-year-old striker is still undergoing suspension and is under internal investigation by the club.
Greenwood’s charges of attempted rape, assault and coercion were dropped earlier this year. It will be interesting to wait for the club’s decision on the 21-year-old wonderkid later.
