Premier League Results: Offside Goal Parade, The Blues and The Reds Share Points

Chelsea vs Liverpool results in the 2023-2024 Premier League will be discussed here. The match that was played at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (13/8/2023) ended with a score of 1-1.

The Reds — Liverpool’s nickname — opened the scoring through Luis Diaz in the 18th minute. However, the Blues – nicknamed Chelsea – were equalized by Axel Disasi in the 37th minute. Both Liverpool and Chelsea both managed to score their second goal in this match, but both were disallowed due to offside.

Chelsea tried to dominate the game in front of their own supporters. However, Liverpool gave the first threat in the third minute through Alexis Mac Allister’s bait. Luckily for the hosts, Diogo Jota’s header was still wide.

In the sixth minute, it was Dominik Szoboszlai’s turn to create opportunities for Jota. Again, the Portuguese attacker failed to maximize opportunities because his shot went wide.

In the 13th minute, Mohamed Salah got a wild ball near the penalty box. Chelsea goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, did not move to face it. However, it was lucky for Sanchez because Salah’s shot was countered by the goalpost.

Unfortunately, Sanchez’s goal was still conceded in the 18th minute. Salah returned to action on the right wing and sent a pass into the empty space in the penalty box. Luis Diaz emerged from the blind spot of the Chelsea defense and successfully ripped through the net to put Liverpool ahead.

It was almost 2-0 in the 29th minute when Salah scored. However, Chelsea were lucky because Salah was offside before scoring, so the goal was disallowed by VAR.

Constantly bombarded, Chelsea finally got back in the 37th minute. A corner kick led to an opportunity created by Ben Chilwell for Axel Disasi. The process of creating goals looked messy but Chelsea managed to balance the position at 1-1.

Just two minutes later, Chelsea even turned ahead to be 2-1 through Ben Chilwell’s goal. Luckily for Liverpool, Chilwell turned out to be offside after being reviewed via VAR so the score 1-1 has not changed.

Until the first half of the match ended, no more goals were created by both teams. The score was 1-1 to close the first half.

At the start of the second half, Nicolas Jackson was seen hitting the ball with his hands. However, the referee did not award Liverpool a penalty even after hearing the opinion of the VAR.

In the 55th minute, Chilwell got the ball on the left. The left-back from England was not guarded but his left-footed shot was muffled by Alisson Becker.

Liverpool lacked bite in the second half, with Mac Allister and Szoboszlai not playing quite as well in the first half. However, Chelsea never punished them.

The two trainers then lowered their mainstay weapons on the bench. Liverpool played Darwin Nunez while Chelsea played Mykhailo Mudryk.

Darwin Nunez got a golden opportunity in injury time. But his shot from near the penalty box hit a Chelsea player which sent him wide a few centimeters from Robert Sanchez’s goal.

It was the last golden opportunity created in this fight. Chelsea and Liverpool also had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their first match of the season.
