Liverpool was the worst mistake of my life – Balotelli

Balotelli scores twice on Nice debut to earn victory

The fact that the two goals Mario Balotelli scored for Nice within 78 minutes were, as a whole, greater than his tally at Liverpool speaks above all. The Italian International found life tough at Anfield and has come out to express his feelings about it very openly (as he usually does).

The Italian moved out of Anfield on deadline day after having been given the axe by Jurgen Klopp. During his entire stay at Liverpool he could only manage one goal which came against Tottenham. Mario however took no time to recover as he scored twice for Nice on debut to give them the victory over Marseille.

The first goal came from the penalty spot which was seven minutes after kick off. The second one was his own craftsmanship as he put Nice on level terms in the 78th minute, after Marseille had taken a lead. Nice snatched a victory courtesy of Wylan Cyprian’s 87th minute goal.

Balotelli has always been a controversial character

The 26 year old described moving to Liverpool as the turning point in his career and blamed the club for his disastrous spell. He did applaud the fans and the players he shared the pitch with, however he said he didn’t like the club – which is a very strange thing to say as a club does comprise of the above mentioned things.

“I joined Liverpool. It was the worst mistake of my life. Apart from the fans, who were fantastic with me, I must be honest, and the players, who I had a good rapport with, I didn’t like the club.

“I had two coaches, Brendan Rodgers and Jürgen Klopp. As people they didn’t make a good impression on me. I didn’t get along with them.” Said the former Liverpool man.

Balotelli further added regarding his chances of winning a Ballon d’Or

“Of course. It’s not too late,” he said. “I think I could have already won it by now, but by working hard in training I could still win it in the next two or three years.”
