Carlos Alcaraz has shared the latest news after he withdrew from the Davis Cup and will continue to support him even if he decides to take a break.
The Spanish tennis player added his name to the list of players who will not play for Spain in the 2023 Davis Cup Finals. This is not surprising because the men’s team competition is not long after the US Open, making those who have gone further in the Grand Slam feel exhausted.
The 2023 Wimbledon champion is one of these players and after playing in two Masters 1000 tournaments held in Toronto and Cincinnati, he just had to rest. Initially, he was expected to participate because Spain was in the hell group, but he ultimately could not compete in the event, so tennis fans will miss the opportunity to watch the match between the 20-year-old and Serbian Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic himself is expect to withdraw from the Davis Cup after a long run at the US Open and victory in Cincinnati, but we’ll see. Regarding the Spanish tennis player, he cited fatigue as the reason for his resignation.
“I feel very excited to play in the Davis Cup which is being held in Valencia, but I have to listen to my body after playing such a long tournament. “I have to stop and rest, both physically and mentally,” wrote Alcaraz via social media.
“The tennis calendar is very demanding, there is still a lot left in the season, and now I have to recharge my batteries. Good luck, Team Spain! I will support you all wholeheartedly!”
The 2022 US Open champion is expect to play for Spain if the matador country books a place in the knockout stages in November and that is a much more important call, but without the player, Spain’s chances will be greatly reduced.
Carlos Alcaraz is likely to return to action later this month in Asia with a number of major tournaments awaiting him, including the Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai. He will compete in East Asia for the first time which is schedule to start in Beijing which will start on September 28.
