Europa League: AS Roma Beats Servette 4-0

AS Roma managed to achieve their second victory in the Europa League easily. They played as hosts and successfully beat the Swiss club Servette with a landslide score of 4-0. The match between Roma vs Servette took place at the Olimpico, Friday. Andrea Belotti played a big role by scoring two goals for the Giallorossi, while the other two goals were scored by Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Romelu Lukaku opened Roma’s goal party in the 21st minute. Starting from an attack on the left wing, Zeki Celik gave a low cross to Lukaku who calmly finished it with a right foot kick in the middle of the penalty box. Roma’s 1-0 lead remained until the end of the first half. After the second half started, Roma immediately gave Servette a surprise. The collaboration between Stephan El Shaarawy and Lukaku ended with Lorenzo Pellegrini’s header hitting the opponent’s net.

Belotti soon doubled the lead, taking the opportunity from a loose ball situation and firing a shot into the bottom corner of the goal that Jerome Fick couldn’t reach. The score was 2-0 for Roma. Five minutes later, Roma managed to score the third goal. Pellegrini forced Fick to take the ball from his own net after completing Celik’s header with a low shot from the middle of the penalty box. Roma leads 3-0.

Roma closed their dominance by scoring the fourth goal through Belotti in the 52nd minute. The goal came from a corner kick, Leandro Paredes provided a cross into the middle of the penalty box which Belotti headed into the bottom left corner of Servette’s goal to make the score 4-0. In the 69th minute, Belotti almost scored a hat-trick, but his header from close range when receiving a cross from Paredes missed the target.

Ten minutes before the end of the match, Servette put pressure on AS Roma, but efforts from Jeremy Guillemenot and Miroslav Stevanovic were unable to produce a reply. With this victory, AS Roma is currently ranked second in Group G of the Europa League. Il Lupi have collected six points from two matches, only losing on goal difference to Slavia Prague who occupy the top position.

It is very important remark for Jose Mourinho and the whole AS Roma’s squad to get this win and how far they can in this championship. It will be interesting to see their performance in the upcoming games. Definitely AS Roma’s fans will be waiting for another win and trophy this season.
