Jose Mourinho’s future as AS Roma coach is being widely speculated about. There were many rumours that he would be fired, AS Roma management also spoke up.
Reporting from Football Italia, Sunday (8/10/2023), AS Roma management strongly denied the unpleasant rumours regarding Mourinho’s dismissal. They have no intention of firing the Portuguese coach. Apart from that, AS Roma reportedly also denied reports that Mourinho would be replaced by Hansi Flick.
“A Roma source called the report ‘false’, saying the club had not thought about sacking Mourinho or had contacted Flick,” wrote the Italian Football report.
It was previously reported that Mourinho himself would immediately fire Mourinho this week if AS Roma were defeated by Cagliari. The match will take place at the Sardegna Arena, Cagliari, Italy on Sunday (8/10/2023).
This report then claims that Dan Friedkin has been ready to part ways with Mourinho since the defeat to Genoa. The match is known to have ended with a score of 1-4 to AS Roma’s defeat.
“According to Il Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin is ‘ready’ to fire José Mourinho and hire Hans-Dieter Flick if the Giallorossi lose against Cagliari on Sunday,” wrote the Football Italia report.
AS Roma is indeed in a slump at the moment. In fact, AS Roma is currently still struggling in 13th position in the 2023-2024 Italian League standings.
Paulo Dybala and colleagues have just won two wins. The remaining matches ended with a score of two draws and three losses from seven matches in domestic competition.
