Scuderia AlphaTauri has confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will remain their driver lineup for the 2024 Formula 1 season.
Ricciardo, who is an eight-time race winner in F1, returned to AlphaTauri in 2023 after a disappointing spell with McLaren. He has impressed in his second stint with the team, scoring points in several races.
Tsunoda is entering his fourth season in F1 in 2024. He has shown flashes of brilliance in his time with AlphaTauri, but has also been inconsistent.
The team is hoping that he can make a further step forward in 2024 and challenge for regular points finishes.
AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost is confident that Ricciardo and Tsunoda can form a strong driver lineup in 2024.
“I am very pleased to confirm that Yuki and Daniel will be our drivers again next year,” Tost said.
“Yuki has shown good progress over the last two and a half years, and Daniel has a lot of experience and race-winning ability.
“I believe that together they can give us a very competitive driver pairing in 2024.” he added.
Ricciardo is also looking forward to another season with AlphaTauri.
“I’m stoked to be driving with Yuki again next year and continuing the journey with Scuderia AlphaTauri,” Ricciardo said.
“Following the progress we have already made and the plans for the future, it’s an exciting time for the team. We are building and it is a great feeling.” Ricciardo added.
Tsunoda is also excited to continue his partnership with Ricciardo in 2024.
“I’m so happy to announce that I will be staying with Scuderia AlphaTauri for the 2024 Formula 1 season,” Tsunoda said.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to fight and collaborate with the team and Daniel. Obviously, I’ll push as much as possible for the rest of the season and beyond, to progress as a driver.” he added.
Ricciardo and Tsunoda will be hoping to help AlphaTauri challenge for a higher position in the constructors’ championship in 2024. The team finished ninth in the standings in 2023.
