Chelsea coach, Mauricio Pochettino, said his team deserved to win over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2023-2024 Premier League this morning. Pochettino said that this victory was good capital to face Manchester City, who will be his next opponent.
Chelsea achieved a landslide victory 4-1 when they visited Tottenham’s headquarters at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Tuesday (7/11/2023) early morning WIB. The team nicknamed The Blues had to be left behind by the hosts through Dejan Kulusevski’s quick goal in the 6th minute.
However, Fortune is on Chelsea’s side because they are superior in number of players after two Tottenham players, namely Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, were given red cards. After that, the Blues successfully scored four goals through Cole Palmer (35’p), and a hat trick from Nicolas Jackson (75′, 90+4′ and 90+7′).
After the match, Pochettino said that this victory was very important for Chelsea as they look towards the match against Man City at Stamford Bridge Stadium on Sunday (12/11/2023). He is also happy because his mainstay players have returned to the squad, so it is a good momentum to look forward to the match against The Citizen – Man City’s nickname.
“I think our final result of 4-1 deserved the win. “These three points are very important because we have a very important match next against Manchester City,” said Pochettino, as reported by the BBC, Tuesday (7/11/2023).
“It was clear from the start we didn’t have the whole squad. “We need to build this momentum and on Sunday we have another opportunity to show that we are in good shape,” he continued.
The Argentinian tactician also said that Chelsea deserved to win, despite the controversy. Although he did not deny that Tottenham played quite well even though they had nine players.
“We won and deserved it. Tottenham were fantastic, but tonight I thought we were the better team. Take a look at the match between Tottenham and Liverpool here, Tottenham won in the last minutes. I think we deserve praise,” added Pochettino.
This victory made Chelsea slowly recover. Currently, the Blues are in 10th place with a collection of 15 points on the 2023-2024 Premier League standings.
