Manchester United’s Finley McAllister Feels at Home in Indonesia: Red Devils’ Fan Base Makes 2023 U-17 World Cup Like England!

Manchester United midfielder, Finley McAllister, expressed a strong sense of connection with Indonesia, feeling as if he’d found a second home while representing the England U-17 National Team at the 2023 U-17 World Cup. His sentiments arose from the immense fan base of Red Devils supporters in the country.

Despite a narrow defeat of 1-2 against the Brazilian U-17 National Team in their final group match at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Friday, 17 November 2023, England U-17 secured their place in the round of 16 as Group C winners. Despite the loss, McAllister played a pivotal role in England’s journey, having appeared twice in the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

The Salford-born player was impressed by the passionate Manchester United fan community in Indonesia, sharing his thoughts on the experience. “As a Man United player, being in Jakarta was an incredible feeling. The support from Man United fans here made me feel at home,” McAllister expressed to the media, including MNC Portal Indonesia (MPI), on Saturday (18/11/2023).

He went on to describe the Indonesian experience as akin to a homecoming. The overwhelming presence of Man United fans in Indonesia made McAllister feel as if he were playing in Manchester itself.

“Indonesia feels like home to me. The warmth and support we receive here, facing challenges together, and giving our best for the fans here and back home feels incredible,” shared McAllister.

Despite the stark differences in climate and culture, the 17-year-old midfielder was profoundly appreciative of the kindness of the Indonesian people. “It’s been an unbelievable experience. The climate here is vastly different from England, and the people are incredibly friendly,” McAllister acknowledged.

“Being a representative of my country in this tournament is a significant achievement for me, and I’m fully committed to giving my best,” he concluded passionately.
