Stefanos Tsitsipas Reveals Pain Due to Injury at ATP Finals

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas had a not-so-good end to the 2023 ATP Finals season after suffering an injury that forced him to withdraw from the season-ending tournament.

The Greek tennis player played a solid first match in the group phase of the ATP Finals but ultimately lost in straight sets against the hot Italian tennis player, Jannik Sinner.

However, after that, Greek tennis players experienced a decline. The second match in the group phase against the Danish national, Holger Rune, only lasted a short time, three games to be precise, because he was forced to withdraw from the match due to an injury that had been bothering him even before the match started.

The 2019 ATP Finals champion thought he could still compete but quickly realized that was impossible.

The injury comes at a truly bad time for the Greek national as he has high hopes for the end-of-season tournament, but also as the new season is fast approaching.

“The injury was painful, metaphorically painful, because I couldn’t finish the last tournament of the season. So, it had a big impact on my body. For the next few days after the ATP Finals, I had trouble getting out of bed. “In fact, the pain I experienced for one to two weeks was very big,” explained Tsitsipas.

Back injuries can be very difficult to deal with, especially for athletes who put a lot of stress on their backs during activities. Resting in general is the only thing you can do and that’s what the Greek tennis player did. His condition is improving and he should be good enough to enter the new season, which is important for the tennis player.

“Everything looks better, I’m better. I do many things every day to reduce the pain I experience as much as possible and return to normal as quickly as possible. This will take a little time. “I’m still not 100 percent recovered,” added Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Australia has been a positive place for Tsitsipas, so we’ll see how the tennis player fares in the coming season.
