Chelsea coach, Mauricio Pochettino, admitted that he was worried about Christopher Nkunku’s injury condition. He did not expect the player to be suffering from quite a complicated injury.
Chelsea got a breath of fresh air with the return of Nkunku after suffering a long injury. However, the former RB Leipzig player had to be sidelined again due to a hip injury. In fact, he has just played his first three matches in the 2023-2024 Premier League.
Nkunku suffered an injury before the Blues faced Preston North End in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday 7 January 2024. Now, the 26-year-old striker has to be sidelined for an unknown period of time.
Pochettino was also worried about Nkunku’s condition. The former Tottenham Hotspur coach was quite disappointed because his flagship bomber had to return to the treatment room.
“We are a little worried about Nkunku’s situation. “We thought it was just a small problem, but now it looks more complicated,” said Pochettino, quoted from the official Chelsea website, Saturday (13/1/2024).
“Now he hasn’t trained for 10 days. After six months of waiting for him and now, after being so close to him, feeling comfortable and being a starter, of course we are disappointed with that. “We are a little worried because we want him to be involved again as soon as possible,” continued the man from Argentina.
But on the other hand, Pochettino is also quite happy because many of his mainstay players have recovered from injuries. The players in question are Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Benoit Badiashile, and Carney Chukwuemeka.
“But on the other hand there is good news that players like Chalobah, Chilwell, Badiashile and Chukwuemeka are almost involved. again and to help the team perform,” said Pochettino.
