Jose Mourinho uploaded an emotional message on his personal Instagram account (@josemourinho), Wednesday (17/1/2024). This message was conveyed by Mourinho after he was officially fired from AS Roma.
Mourinho was officially fired by AS Roma on Tuesday (16/1/2024). The 60 year old coach was suddenly fired by AS Roma management, who wanted changes for the club’s interests.
The dismissal shocked The Special One – Jose Mourinho’s nickname. Mourinho has now written a short but emotional message as a sign of farewell to the fans of I Giallorossi – AS Roma’s nickname.
“Sudore, sangue, lacrime, allegria, tristezza, amor, fratelli, storia, cuore, eternità (Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sorrow, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity),” wrote Mourinho on his personal Instagram account , quoted on Wednesday (17/1/2024).
This message then received attention from fans and a number of world football figures. They flocked to provide encouragement via the comments column to the former Real Madrid coach.
Mourinho’s dismissal could be said to be surprising. Even though it was rumored he would leave at the end of the season, no one expected The Special One to be dismissed so quickly.
During his career at AS Roma, Mourinho has presented one trophy, namely the 2021-2022 European Conference League. Mourinho also took AS Roma to the final of the 2022-2023 European League, but they lost to Sevilla on penalties.
As a record, Roma was only able to reach the 9th position in the league after going through 20 games by collecting 29 points.
The club’s co-owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin in a statement thanked Mourinho for his contribution since taking over the team in 2021.
“We would like to thank Mourinho who has been quite committed since joining our team. However, we believe this decision was made for the good and the future of the club.
“Congratulations to Mourinho and the rest of the coaching staff,” said the statement.
During almost three years with Roma, Mourinho has helped the club lift the Europa League trophy in 2022 and was a Europa League finalist last year.
AS Roma itself immediately moved quickly to fill the void left by Mourinho. It is known that the club management has appointed Daniele De Rossi as head coach until the end of the season.
