Zhu Lin made it back to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Thailand Open in Hua Hin after crushing Linda Fruhvirtova 6-2, 6-2 in just 78 minutes.
The defending champion now has seven wins in a row at the Thailand Open.
Throughout the match, Chinese tennis player Zhu appeared impressive with his serve. She won 71 percent of points from her first serve and 70 percent of points from her second serve, while Czech tennis player Fruhvirtova won 66 percent of points from her first serve and only won 17 percent of points from her second serve.

The second seeded tennis player was also more effective in exploiting his break point opportunities. He was able to create five break point opportunities and capitalize on four of them. He also managed to save all three break point opportunities he faced.
In other action, Chinese tennis player Wang Yafan booked a place in the quarterfinals of a WTA tournament for the first time since Monterrey in the 2020 season thanks to a convincing 6-2, 6-4 win over eighth seed Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
Meanwhile, the third seed, Wang Xinyu also ensured that he would advance to the quarter-finals in Hua Hin after beating Japanese tennis player Nao Hibino 7-5, 6-4.
What is noteworthy is that the three Chinese nationals are the most Chinese female tennis players to have reached the quarter-finals of a WTA tournament since before the COVID-19 pandemic, even since the Thailand Open three seasons ago. In the 2020 season, Wang Qiang, Wang Xiyu, and Zheng Saisai qualified for the quarterfinals in Hua Hin.
Four or more Chinese women’s tennis players have qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA tournament on five occasions, namely in Guangzhou in the 2005 season, Kuala Lumpur in the 2017 season, Zhengzhou in the 2017 season, Nanchang in the 2017 season and Nanchang in the 2018 season.
Meanwhile, Australian tennis player Arina Rodionova blocked another Chinese woman from advancing to the quarter-finals in Hua Hin after she beat Bai Zhuoxuan 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
With a place in the semifinals at stake, Rodionova will face Zhu Lin.
In other action, American tennis player Katie Volynets booked a place in the quarter-finals of the second WTA tournament of her career thanks to a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory over fourth seed Tatjana Maria and world number 125 Wang Yafan.
