It was reported that Xavi Hernandez has canceled leaving Barcelona at the end of this season. However, the Spanish coach denied this news and said he was satisfied with this decision.
Xavi has made the decision to leave at the end of the season as a form of responsibility for Barcelona’s inconsistent performance at the start of the year. In fact, the 44 year old tactician’s contract will only end on June 30 2025.
Even though they had stumbled, Barcelona is now starting to experience an improvement in performance. Robert Lewandowski and colleagues have not lost in their last five matches in all competitions.
The Blaugrana’s performance is starting to improve, giving rise to rumors that Xavi has canceled his departure. However, the coach with a Spanish passport denied the rumors circulating.
“To this day, nothing has changed. There’s no more to the story than that. “Everything remains the same and we are focused on the next match,” said Xavi, as reported by Goal International, Sunday (3/3/2024).
Xavi is aware that his team’s performance is becoming more consistent and this cannot be separated from the hard work of the players. However, the future remains unchanged. He wants to bring Barcelona to continue performing consistently until the end of the season.
“It’s true that we have been doing well recently, I see the team training well every day and the tension of the players is less tense than before,” said Xavi Hernandez.
“But tomorrow is a completely new story, here at Barcelona you face challenges all the time. “The moment of truth of the season is coming, and we feel we have performed well over the last few weeks,” added Xavi.
Xavi’s departure practically means Barcelona is looking for a replacement. Several names are also starting to be rumored, such as Roberto De Zerbi, Thiago Motta, Rafael Marquez, and Thomas Tuchel who are also predicted to be on the Blaugrana’s radar.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is currently sitting in third position with a collection of 57 points, 15 points adrift of Real Madrid who are at the top and two points from Girona. Nearby, the Blaugrana will visit Athletic Bilbao’s headquarters at the San Mames Stadium on Monday (4/3/2024).
