Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones offered his prediction on the upcoming heavyweight boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou.
Jones, widely considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, admitted Ngannou’s raw power but believes Joshua’s superior boxing experience will be the deciding factor.
He also highlighted Ngannou’s lack of professional boxing experience compared to Joshua’s established career.
“Anthony Joshua, he’s been doing this since he’s a young boy, and I’m the type of guy that just gives respect where it’s due,” Jones said.
“If I had to personally put my money on it, not that I gamble, I would put it on Anthony Joshua, but I am rooting for Francis Ngannou. Sorry, Francis.” Jones added.
On March 8th, the boxing world will witness a heavyweight clash of epic proportions when Joshua and Ngannou step into the ring in Saudi Arabia.
This highly anticipated bout promises fireworks, pitting two of the most dangerous strikers in combat sports against each other.
Joshua, a former unified heavyweight champion, boasts a formidable record of 24 wins (22 KOs) and 3 losses. Known for his exceptional athleticism and powerful right hand, he seeks to reclaim his place at the top of the heavyweight division.
Ngannou, transitioning from his reign as the UFC heavyweight champion, brings a different kind of threat. Renowned for his devastating knockout power, he holds a record of 17 wins (11 KOs) and 3 losses.
This fight marks his second professional boxing match, following a close decision loss to Tyson Fury in his debut last year.
For Joshua, a victory paves the way for another shot at a heavyweight title. For Ngannou, it signifies a potential shift in career paths and a chance to establish himself in the boxing world.
Jones, widely considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, defeated Cyril Gane via unanimous decision to claim the vacant UFC heavyweight title.
