Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is set to return from a four-month calf injury. The English international has been sidelined since November but has rejoined training ahead of the crucial final months of the season.
Mason’s most recent game was on November 11th, coming off the bench in a 1-0 Premier League win against Luton.
“Mason’s presence in training is a positive factor that comes at the right time, as United prepare for the decisive months of the season ,” Manchester United said in a statement.
Mason joined United on a five-year deal from Chelsea in summer 2023 in a deal worth an initial £55million, with a potential further £5m in add-ons
The 25-year-old midfielder is unlikely to feature for Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool but could return to action after the international break.
His return will be an asset for the club which still clings to the hope of competing in the next Champions League.
The good news is that Ten Hag expects Maguire, Hojlund, and Wan-Bissaka to be available for the crucial FA Cup clash against Liverpool this Sunday.
However, the Red Devils will still be without Martinez, Martial, Shaw, and Malacia who remain on the sidelines.
With only a few games left in the season, every point is crucial for United if they want to secure a spot in the top four and qualify for Champions League competition next season.
Ten Hag will be looking to rally his team and ensure they give their all in every match to try and make up ground on Villa and Tottenham.
The race for the top four is heating up, and United will need to be at their best if they want to have any chance of finishing in a Champions League spot.
It will be an exciting end to the season as the battle for European places intensifies.
