German Legend Supports Julian Nagelsmann Returning to Handle Bayern Munich

Julian Nagelsmann is supported to return to coaching Bayern Munich. German national team legend, Lothar Matthaus, considers Nagelsmann to be the most suitable figure to coach FC Hollywood at the moment.

Nagelsmann himself is currently managing the German national team by replacing Hansi Flick. Germany’s PSSI deliberately recruited this former Bayern Munich coach to focus on managing Der Panzer – the nickname of the German national team – at the 2024 European Cup. Because his contract will end at the end of July 2024.

Matthaus believes that leading the German national team is a big challenge for Nagelsmann. The former Bayern Munich player also feels that Nagelsmann actually still has the desire to coach the club, especially since he is still very young, namely 36 years.

“I can imagine that this will be a big challenge for Julian to shape an era with the German national team,” said Matthaus, as reported by Bavarian Football Works, Tuesday (26/3/2024).

“But I assume that at his age, he wants to work with the team every day and I think he has offers from clubs who are interested in him,” he continued.

Incidentally, Bayern Munich is currently looking for a new coach to replace Thomas Tuchel who is leaving at the end of the season. Reports are circulating that Die Roten are targeting Xabi Alonso because he is good at bringing in Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Matthaus himself doesn’t really know whether Nagelsmann is on Bayern Munich’s radar. But according to him, this 36 year old coach is the right person to train Harry Kane and his colleagues. He fully supports Die Roten to recruit Nagelsmann again.

“I don’t know if he is at the top of Bayern’s list, but his return to Munich would be something very special. “I think it was a mistake to fire him,” he said.

“For me, Nagelsmann is suitable for Bayern. But whether he will do it again, even under different management and hierarchy, is up to him,” said Matthaus.

Yes, Nagelsmann is currently focusing on polishing the German national team to compete in the 2024 European Cup which will take place in Germany from 14 June to 14 July. Considering that his contract will expire at the end of July, it is not impossible that he will leave.

Reportedly, there are already clubs interested in using his services. One of the clubs interested is Chelsea, where Nagelsmann is projected to replace Mauricio Pochettino because he was unable to bring the Blues – Chelsea’s nickname – to a good performance this season.
