Trusting Yamaha Will Mighty Again, Quartararo Extends Contract until 2026

MotoGP racer, Fabio Quartararo, officially extended his contract with Monster Energy Yamaha until 2026 on Friday (5/4/2024). Fabio Quartararo, who is the 2021 MotoGP world champion, admits that he still believes that Yamaha can compete again.

“I’m very happy to continue my adventure with the blue! Last winter, Yamaha proved to me that they have a new approach,” said Quartararo. “My confidence is very high, we will return to the front row together,” said the French racer, quoted from the MotoGP website.

Fabio Quartararo joined the Petronas Yamaha SRT satellite team when he moved up to MotoGP class in 2019. After spending two seasons and always finishing in the top 10 of the MotoGP final standings, Quartararo was drawn to the Monster Energy Yamaha factory team.

Quartararo successfully became world champion in 2021 in his first season in the factory team and was runner-up in the race for the 2022 title. He also recorded 8 wins and 21 podiums during 2021-2024 and won 16 pole positions and 41 front row starts from a total of 93 races in on the YZR-M1 motorbike.

“Six years ago, they gave me the opportunity to move up to MotoGP and since then we have achieved many great things together,” he said. “We still have a long way to go to fight again for victory. I will work hard and am confident that together we will achieve our dreams once again,” he said.

Meanwhile, Yamaha Managing Director, Lin Jarvis, promised to restore his team’s strength to return to winning ways. “Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha Motor Racing and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team will strive to ensure a bright future with Fabio by taking a more aggressive approach in motorbike development,” he said. “We have made significant changes to our organization including a new internal management system, hiring the best talent in the industry, new external technical partnerships, an increased development budget and an intensive testing program,” said Lin Jarvis. “All these changes are designed to speed up the process for us to get back to winning ways. Fabio has understood this commitment and has given him the confidence to make the decision to stay with us,” said Lin Jarvis.
