Hamilton: Ferrari F1 switch doesn’t need “sh*t” talk

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton, who announced his departure to the Ferrari Formula 1 team, expressed his frustration over people’s comments. He asked to stop “vindicating” his decision and stop “talk sh*t” about it all the time.

The British driver announced his departure from the Mercedes F1 team at the start of February. He activated a clause which permits his departure at the end of 2024 for Ferrari. His original agreement with the German team will end with this season.

The current difference between the two team doesn’t outweigh the other. Therefore, people have debated whether he made the right choice regarding his career. He believes it is irrelevant and trust his judgement regarding the matter.

Rather than worrying about speculations, he is happy about his decision. He had similar feelings when he joined Mercedes in 2013 despite opposition to it.

Hamilton expressed his confidence on the decision ahead of Chinese Grand Prix. He said: “Well, I don’t feel like I need my decision vindicating. I think I know what’s right for me, and that hasn’t changed since the moment that I made the decision.

“There’s not been a moment where I’ve questioned it, and I’m not swayed by other people’s comments. Even today, there’s people continuing to talk shit, and it will continue on for the rest of the year.

“And I’ll have to just do what I did in the previous time. Only you can know what was right for you. And it will be an exciting time for me.”

Hamilton, at Japanese Grand Prix, expressed his annoyance with a journalist who questioned his decision.

“Do you have any better questions?” demanded Hamilton.

Hamilton made a long term decision and he could end up driving in his 40’s like Fernando Alonso.

“I am going to be racing for quite some time still,” he declared. “So, it’s definitely good that he’s still around, I hope that he keeps going for a little bit longer as well.”

He added: “I never thought that I’d be racing into my 40s. I’m pretty sure I said I wouldn’t go into my 40s racing, but I think it’s such a crazy trip, life, that I don’t feel like I’m nearly 40 years old. I feel really young still.”
