The 2024 World Esports Championship, which will be held in November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will soon look for representatives from various countries. For Indonesia itself, the national qualification process for the Mobile Legends Bang Bang game will begin on May 3.
One of the paths for WEC 2024 qualification participants will be via national selection which will consist of the top 4 National Esports League teams and two from the H3RO Esports 5.0 tournament. Four National Esports League teams last year, namely Pajajaran Esports, Team Gryffin, Borneo FC Esports and ONIC Miracle will be the invited teams for selection.
The six national selection teams will later be divided into two groups to compete in the playoffs. Group A consists of 1st and 4th place LEN 2023 plus 2nd place H3RO 5.0. Meanwhile, group B is filled with 2nd & 3rd place LEN 2023 and 1st place H3RO 5.0. The group stage schedule to the national selection playoffs takes place from 10 to 14 June. Next, the winning team in the national selection must take part in the Asia & Oceania qualifications to compete for the slot for the 2024 WEC main event in Riyadh.
Indonesia was once the WEC champion or at that time known as the IESF World Championship. Indonesia represented by EVOS Legends beat Blacklist International. Then at IESF Romania, Indonesia, represented by Bigetron Alpha, bowed out in the final to the Philippines, represented by AP Bren.
As defending champions, the Philippines already have a slot in the main event but they will hold national qualifications again to look for representatives at WEC 2024. Apart from that, hosts Saudi Arabia will also immediately appear in the WEC 2024 main event.
