Sergio Perez’s contract with the Red Bull Racing team is set to expire at the end of the current season. However, there is a possibility that he could stay with the team.
Red Bull signed Perez to a new deal in May 2022, which extended his contract until the end of 2024. It is unclear whether Perez will sign another contract with Red Bull after his current deal expires.
Perez’s time with Red Bull has been successful so far. In the 2023 season, he secured nine podium finishes and two race wins, helping Red Bull win the Constructors Championship for the first time since 2013.
However, his performance in the 2023 season has been marked by underwhelming results, which has led to speculation about his future with the team.
There have been rumours that Perez could be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo if he fails to secure second place in the current season.
Perez himself has expressed his desire to continue racing in F1 beyond his current contract with Red Bull.
He joined Red Bull last season and has been a valuable teammate to Max Verstappen.
“We’ve been here together for a few years already, and I think it’s going to be quite a quick conversation to know which direction we go, and I think we all want to continue, so I expect it’s a matter of time.” Perez said.
“Given how the market is moving, things are kicking in a lot faster than we all would have liked but it’s how the game is at the moment.” Perez added.
Meanwhile Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has cast doubt on the future of Perez at the prestigious racing team.
“Sergio is undoubtedly a talented driver, but we have to evaluate his performance and contribution to the team.” Horner said.
“We are exploring all options for the future, and Sergio’s contract is no exception.” Horner added.
