Bayern Munich officially appointed Vincent Kompany as their new coach on Wednesday (29/5/2024). The following is Vincent Kompany’s profile.
The news about the announcement of Bayern Munich’s new coach attracted quite a lot of attention. The reason is that Kompany has just failed to save Burnely from the degradation zone in the 2023/2024 Premier League season.
Burnley were sent to the second tier of the Premier League after only being able to finish in 19th place in the final standings. The Clarets’ squad only managed five wins from 38 matches.
However, Bayern Munich management has full confidence in the 38 year old tactician. A big responsibility awaits Kompany in his new adventure in the Bundesliga as a coach.
The Bundesliga is actually nothing new for the man born in Uccle, Belgium, April 10 1986. Because after studying at the academy and breaking into the Anderlecht main team in mid 2001-2006, Kompany was recruited by Hamburger SV.
Kompany was one of the mainstays in his team at that time. He stayed for two seasons before being brought in by Manchester City in 2008 in line with Sheikh Mansour’s massive project.
With Manchester City as a player, Kompany successfully won all domestic trophies. He also contributed to four Premier League trophies, two FA Cups, four League Cups and two Community Shields.
After achieving success with The Citizens, Kompany returned to Belgium with Anderlecht. There he became a player and coach in 2019, then became a full-time coach in 2020.
Two seasons after, Kompany returned to England to coach Burnley in 2022. In his first season, Kompany succeeded in bringing Burnley promotion to the Premier League. Unfortunately, in the following season, Burnley had to return to the second tier of the Premier League.
Currently he is trusted to carry out a tougher task by handling Bayern Munich replacing Thomas Tuchel. He is under contract for three years until 2027.
